Why Am I Running for Barnstable County Register of Probate?

I was appointed Assistant Register of the Barnstable Probate and Family Court in 2003 and I have truly loved my work at the Court ever since. I have found public service extremely rewarding.

I am an experienced attorney and have practiced law on the Cape for fourteen years. My legal knowledge has helped people at the Court who cannot afford a lawyer. Actually, I am the only candidate that has been on both sides of the counter at the Probate and Family Court and that puts me in a unique position to assist people during a period of great personal stress.

In addition to assisting the public, I also have the responsibility of assisting the lawyers, Probate Court Judges, and the very hardworking Court staff with any legal or procedural questions concerning matters that come before the Court.

At some point in time, you may need the Probate and Family Court.
It is the Court that assists the public with divorce, child custody, child support, protection from abuse, estate administration, adoption, guardianship and many other family matters... so it is usually in a time of personal crisis that people come to the Probate and Family Court. The Register's Office is there to help people through these family matters during what are often very difficult times. I want to continue to provide compassionate help and ensure that the Register's Office runs efficiently – both for the sake of the taxpayers who fund the office and for the families that rely on us.

I would appreciate your vote both in the primary on September 16, 2008, and then again in the general election on November 4, 2008.
