Mary LeClair Endorses Anastasia Welsh Perrino for Register of Probate
Assistant Register, Anastasia Welsh Perrino of Dennis, picked up a major endorsement in her bid to become Barnstable County Register of Probate. Long-time County Commissioner Mary LeClair gave the nod to Anastasia after a number of detailed discussions about her plan for the future.
“What impresses me so much about Anastasia is that she is really the perfect person for this job. She is the only candidate who has the right level of education and experience and her approach is exactly what this county needs,” said LeClair.
LeClair who has served in county-wide positions for more than 30 years knows how important it is to put service to the residents first. Mary has always taken very seriously the importance of setting aside party and personal agendas to do what is in the best interest of the county.
“There are simply some jobs which should be filled by the best person for the job – politics aside. Register of Probate is one of those jobs and Anastasia is the best person for the job,” according to LeClair. “I know that the people of Barnstable County look carefully at the candidates and I am certain they will see a clear difference between Anastasia and the others.”
Anastasia has touted the fact that she is the only candidate with the right experience, having worked as Assistant Register as well as more than a decade in private probate law practice. Earlier this month, she also became the only candidate to roll out a plan to improve the office.
“I am thrilled to have the support of Mary LeClair,” said Anastasia of the endorsement. “I have such respect for the commitment she has made to the people of this county and to have her behind me is a great boost for the campaign and for me personally. She has always put the people first and I consider her a role model in that regard.”

Anastasia Welsh Perrino Makes the Ballot for Register of Probate
With more than double the required signatures in hand, Assistant Register of Probate, Anastasia Welsh Perrino of Dennis, delivered her nomination papers to the Secretary of State’s Office. Having more than 1,000 signatures certified by the Barnstable County town clerks, she easily cleared the requirement of 500.
“I want to thank the many people who helped me gather the signatures at town meetings, town elections, grocery stores, and post offices over the past few months. I also appreciate greatly those who stopped for a moment to sign my papers,” said Perrino. “It was great to get out and meet voters and tell them why I am running.”
Anastasia, an attorney, and mother of two has worked as Assistant Register since 2003. In April, she began an unpaid leave of absence from her job to run for Register.
“It is amazing how many people stopped me and told me how much they appreciate the fact that I took an early unpaid leave in order to run,” said Anastasia. “They expressed how important transparency in government is to them and how pleased they were to see such a fresh approach.”
Anastasia lives in South Dennis with her husband, attorney, Tom Perrino and their two children. She is the President of the Barnstable County Bar Association and a former director for Nauset, Inc. and Independence House. She is a graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth High School, Boston College, and Suffolk University Law School.
Her campaign can be reached at P.O. Box 275, South Dennis, MA 02660 or by calling 508-776-2684.
